Light A Candle

In Memoriam

We understand all too well what it feels like to lose a beloved pet. We created the Light A Candle area of our website so our clients can share stories about a pet that has passed and to honor their memory.

We are deeply sorry for your loss and hope sharing your story will help you remember the joy and unconditional love that your pet brought to you.

Jackie Jax (Greyhound)

We miss you!

Jackie Jax (Greyhound)

Jackie, you came into my life when I needed you most. You were with me in the darkest hours of the night comforting me through my transiton. When a husband and two children were added to our little family, you welcomed them with kisses and love. It has only been a couple of months and so much has happened. However, we still remember you and talk of you often. We love you! Tony, Amber, A.J., & Ava

Sophia Marie

Gone but not forgotten

Sophia Marie

After a wonderful and happy almost 15 year life our beloved Sophia passed to be with all of her brothers and sisters. She brought us so much joy and loved us unconditionally. She was driven by food and was a puglet who had a mind of her own. Her cute muffin face, loads of kisses and her gentle snore are sorely missed. Thank you to Dr. Rick and Dr. John and the staff at PAAH for taking such good care of her. May you rest in peace my sweet baby girl. You are loved always. Mary, Kim and Lucy

We love them as much as we do you and hope that when their times come, you will all be together as our fellas...the Idiots, the Morons, the Boys, the Vicious Dogs, the Crazies...whatever name, you know who you all are.

Samson

We were very happy to have featured Samson's story in our PAAH Blog but have sad news that he has passed.

Samson came into the clinic on Saturday in bad condition, unable to see or stand due to the sudden onset of seizure activity. After discussing the options with the doctors, the rescue group made the difficult but appropriate decision to fore go further diagnostics and therapies and put him to sleep. He had a good month where he was in a good, safe, warm, comfortable environment, free from parasites and free from that massive tumor on his head, able to run around and play with other dogs and just be loved.

Our hearts are heavy, but we’re thankful we were able to be involved with Samson’s case, giving him a new leash on life if even for a little while.

Beloved Ceasar

Beloved Ceasar

We loved Ceasar like he was one of our own but his Mom and Dad are dear friends of our in Deltona. Ceasar was a rescue and given a very good home where he was loved and had a full and very happy life. He started having seizures on Saturday and stopped eating so everyone involved thought it best to not have him suffer and yesterday morning Ceasar went to sleep.

Our hearts are broken but our thoughts and prayers are with our friends as we known they are suffering a loss we know all to well. We know that Ceasar is running and playing with our beloved Charlie, Moosey, Sammy, Oliver and Bailey in that big dog park in the sky. May you rest now big boy, you are missed.

Oscar

Well tonight we said our final goodbyes to Oscar. Our sweet 9 year old dachshund. Dr. Rick took such great care of him with his cushings disease and despite efforts he crashed tonight. Oh how my heart is broken. We were blessed with 7 wonderful years with Oscar and he will be missed.

Our Little Guy "Ben"

Ben when we first met you in 2000, you were a fuzzy ball of white fur, with dark shiny black eyes, and that little tiny ear that stood straight up. You stole our hearts. At first, we thought what would we do with him? Nevertheless, you kept tugging at our hearts and we knew we had to have you. Of course, you needed a brother so we brought Jerry home too. A family of two became a family of four. You quickly learned by keeping us up at night that your small bed became a big king size bed. When we traveled, you stole everyone's heart. When you went to Lanelle's Pet Salon, you protected your big brother by telling everyone there you were in charge. Aunt Lanelle nicknamed you "The Boss". In Oct 2009 when you first got sick, we did not think it was serious. When you did not get better, we found Dr. Rick and the Park Avenue Animnal Hospital Staff. Even though things did not go as we planned under Dr. Rick's care, we had you for three more months. You were your self during the Holidays and we thought everything would be ok. The medicine seemed to help but it was not to be. When the time came to say good-bye. We cried but we knew it was for the best we could not have you suffer. You may not be with us now but you will always be in our hearts. Mommy, Daddy and Jerry

Our Precious Bailey

Our Precious Bailey

We lost our sweet baby Bailey, otherwise known as Bebehead. She was a black and brown mini-dachshund who never did anything bad. She was a happy doggie and one day in 2003 we noticed she was starting to drag her front right foot. Dr. Rick referred us to Affiliated Vets in Maitland, who in turn referred us to Gainesville Vet School. We found she had GME (Granulometous meningoencephalomyelitis). the doctor in Gainesville told us there was nothing that could be done and to take her home and wait for her to die. We decided to take her to Tampa where she had radiation treatments every week. We had to leave her there for 3 weeks but we would go and visit her twice a week and then we brought her home on weekends. She lived longer than anyone thought she would and was "healthy" and happy until the end. After 3 years she started having seizures and we knew it was time. Dr. Rick was there for us and made it less painless if that is even possible. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't think of her and miss her terribly. We love you Bebehead!
